The Waiting
It's been a long time since my last post. I was too caught up with my exams and whatnot that I couldnt find time to blog. We just had our anatomy lab exam this afternoon. I lost count of [exagg] how many days my classmates and I spent at the B.I.O.S.I.S. memorizing bones, tissues, digestive organs, etc.
Last week, I received an email from Nilla, one of my classmates at Sinclair. It's been almost a year since the last time we talked. She transferred to another university in 03 after getting a varsity scholarship [tennis]. I heard she graduated last June and that she's currently reviewing for the MCAT. She sent me our pic at the Biology Lab, when we were in Dr. Klopfenstein's class. I looked really, really nerdy in it. lol. She mentioned this picture [below] was posted in our school website, in the Biology Department page.

I went to the TB clinic this morning because I tested positive on the tuberculin skin test. They analyzed my chest x-ray, had some blood drawn & analyzed but everything came out negative. But since I'm fairly new here in the US and that I came from a country with high prevalence of TB, they made me take isoniazid [I'm gonna have to take this for 9 freaking months (parang magkakaroon ng baby noh!)]. Good thing though, I don't have to pay anything, they're giving em for free.
I never heard about that stats but thinking about all the waiting I did just for my 3 sems at UP, I'd definitely agree. lol. Seriously, we do a lot of waiting. Some people eventually get used to it. Others opt to give up. Some people die of it. Not too many take pride and joy in it. Are you in any of these groups of people, or none of them?
Me? I think of myself as a very patient person. Some people call me "Rush" or "Rushie" ironically, I never am in a hurry. I always try to take my time. As the old adage goes "Patience is a virtue." I always think there are things that are worth waiting for, like that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I have great respect for people who can wait wholeheartedly. And I'm so lucky that there's someone who does exactly that, for me [5 years and counting]. ;-)

While waiting at the health center lobby, there was this guy, pushing his baby's carriage around the lobby. I can see his impatience. While some people tap their fingers or feet, or click on the mouse, this guy was going in circles talking to his kid as though the kid understands him. Some of the things I heard him saying was:
You gotta get used to it son, this is how life is. Like what statistics say, you spend 1/3 of your life waiting. You wait when you go to the grocery store, you wait when you go to the doctor's office, you wait to get money in the bank.
